Literacy Asides for Toddler and/or Preschool Storytime: (Use for newsletter)

  • The importance of rhymes such as the one we recited in the beginning and ending of our program today.

  • Reading together helps children learn how the written language works.

  • Sing a book with your child. You can make up a tune, or choose a book with a song you already know. You can even choose a theme – such as books about the sun – and then sing “Sunshine” with your child.

Healthy Snack:

Instructions: Slice oranges. Provide pretzels and raisins.

The children place an orange circle slice on their plate. They can use the pretzel sticks for the rays of the sun and raisins to make faces!
