How To Make a Animal Corner Bookmark - Origami

MATERIALS NEEDED

Origami Paper or even blank paper

Markers

Glue stick/ Tape

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS

To make the bookmark you must make sure that your paper is a square, so if you’re using a sheet of printer paper just cut it in a square. Origami paper is already a square so you’re all set with that one. Now the next thing you are going to do is fold it into a triangle, and then fold the corners up to the top. After that open the triangle up and fold down one top part down and fold the “arms” into the bookmark. You can also go to YouTube to see how this was down. Once the kids have their corner bookmark, they can then decorate them. I made a bunny out of mine by cutting out two ears as well as the inner part and glued them together then taped them to the back to look like ears. I then added a little circle in the back to act as the tail. To finish I drew in the bunny face. Have fun and make different animals.

Handout of directions to make the bookmark:

You can easily make this book mark into an animal by making ears etc.

Pom Pom Animals

MATERIALS NEEDED

Yarn

Scissors

cardboard

felt

beads

pencil

hot glue (optional)

How to make a DIY cardboard Pom Pom maker

You will Need:

  • Scrap cardboard – the thicker and stronger the better

  • Yarn – I’ve found the very thick, chunky yarn works great for the large sized pom poms and the finer yarn works best for the small size but there are no real rules here

  • Scissors – sharp scissors are a must for cutting and trimming

  • pom pom maker template to get the small, medium and large pom pom makers.

Instructions:

How To:

  • Trace the desired template size onto cardboard as seen in Exhibit 1.

Exhibit 1

  • Cut a piece of yarn and place it inside the slid as seen in Exhibit 2.

Exhibit 2

  • Wrap these in yarn. The yellow yarn in the image directly below is 8 ply, the other two are thicker as seen in Exhibit 3.

Exhibit 3

While the yarn is wrapped around your cardboard pom pom maker tie it tightly in the middle using the yarn you placed on the template in Exhibit 2 and is shown in Exhibit 4.

Exhibit 4

  • Use your sharp scissors to cut the looped ends. It will come out looking very shaggy and a bit uneven.

  • Now it just needs a good trim which is the big secret of making a fluffy, round pom pom.

Note: You can add eyes, nose, and ears to make various animals using googly eyes and felt. Here are a few examples:

Using two pom pom's.

With the chicks you could use googly eyes, pipe cleaners for the feet and a small pom pom.
