Introduction: It is imperative that library programs reflect the rich diversity of the entire community. According to the U.S. Census Bureau (2019, July 1), 44% of Ridgefield park's community is Hispanic or Latino. Over 51% of households speak a language other than English in their home. Bilingual storytimes in English and Spanish is an effective strategy to attract Latino and Spanish-speaking families to our library.

"Mitón, mitón ¿dónde te escondes?" Mitten Mitten Where Do You Hide?
Print out the template on different color paper. Laminate and cut out. Place sandpaper on the back each hat and the mitten.
Hide the mitten behind one of the hats (without the kids seeing which one) and ask the kids which colored hat we should look under first. Then together say the rhyme:
Mitten, mitten, where do you hide?
Mitón, mitón, ¿dónde te escondes?Are you under the (color) hat? Let's peek inside!
¿Estás debajo del sombrero (de color)? ¡Echemos un vistazo al interior!And you take off the hat to reveal (gasp!) whether or not the mitten is there. The kids love it.
