Outline:
Introduction: Hi Everyone! Welcome to preschool storytime. My name is Ms. Debbie, and I am happy to see you all here today. If you want your parent can type your name in the chat box so we can all get to know each other better. So let’s get started with our opening song. I have included the song in our storytime kit if you would like to join in. If not enjoy listening to our opening song.
Hello Song (laminate included in storytime kit)
Our letter today is "D". Can anyone tell me a word that starts with the letter D?
Dog, dancing, dishes, duck, donut and dad
Okay let's stand up and get our wiggles out!
Okay 1, 2, 3 let's sit down.
I am going to read a book to you. The book is called Please Take Me for a Walk by Susan Gal. Who can tell me what dog "da da" starts with?
But now it is time to say goodbye until we meet again. But your fun is not over. In your story kit is a craft for you to make a puppet of a dog.
Craft: Dog Mask
Print out either of the two templates on white cardstock. One is "colored" and one is white so a child could color it themselves. For this program, I have selected the one to color.
Color mask
Cut out mask.
Punch two holes in the mask so the child can wear the mask. Tie string into each hole.
What comes in the kit?
Summer Reading Program: Tails and Tales
To make this craft you will first need to make the zine. All you need is a white piece of copy paper. You can have the participants tell a story in their zine. They could do a "Story of My Pet,", "Hero Animals," or even a fun owner's manual. Let them have fun telling a story. Kids make a story.
Here are directions to make some popular animals that have a "tail". This could be used to help kids draw animals.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Blank paper
Scissors
Pen/Pencil
Thin markers
Stickers(optional)
DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
To make the zine start by folding the paper in half length wise, then folding the paper in half. Open the paper up and fold each side into the middle so that you have it in thirds. Make sure each fold is crisp and neat. Next push the paper up so it looks like a tent and cut the middle down. Then fold the paper so that you have four pages- eight sides in total. Then have the kids decorate them.
