Read Across America Day

Updated: Mar 1, 2021

School Collaboration:

Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The annual event is part of Read Across America, an initiative on reading creative by the National Education Association. Since the event is designed to encourage reading in children and is fostered through the schools, when March 2nd lands on a weekend, the day is observed on the closest school day.

For 2021, I collaborated with the Director of Curriculum and Literacy Teacher and we put together books to be read by the PK - 6 grade teaches in their Read Across America Event.

I created a library card for Dr. Barry Haines under the Ridgefield Park School District and checked out the books for the school. I also included 4 copies each of various flyers of programs taken place Q2. I placed a Brainfuse bookmark in each book too. Brainfuse in a Homework site being paid through the Cares Act through the New Jersey State Library and is being provided free of charge to public libraries in New Jersey until the end of the school year.
