The objective of this program is for children to be able to:
describe the present, as differentiated from past and future, and give examples.
use their senses to notice and describe the present moment, including the things, details, people, and place around them.
Mindfulness can be described as the practice of being fully in the moment. In this program children will be introduced to exercises to help learn to feel calm and focused anytime.
The program begins with reading various excerpts from the book, Breathe like a Bear by Kira Willey.
Using the laminates, children will be shown various poses.
Have children sit down to listen to the story, Yoga Animals by Paige Towler.
Play a game with children. Using the flash cards below, have children select a card and complete that activity.
Give children coloring pages that reflect the activities they completed.

Once the story is complete, the family will put together animal movement dice to move like animals. Use the flashcards to guide you. Whether you are slithering like snakes or galloping like horses, this will be a fun exercise game for the whole family!
