Community Partners: 7/20/2021: Approached our Shade Tree Commission to see if they were interested in donating seedlings for various STEM programs for the month of April 2022.

Programs for the month of April in celebration of Arbor Day:

  • Virtual STEM Program: Children learn the benefits of trees in this virtual program. Slideshow for Zoom: https://www.arborday.org/kids/benefits-of-trees/ . At the conclusion children will receive a seedling to plant. Book shared, I love this tree: Discover the life, beauty and importance of trees by Anna Claybourne (book on order)

  • Storytime in the Park: Join Ms. Debbie on Saturday at 11:00 am for a special storytime in celebration of Arbor Day. Bring a blanket for your family to stay safe and socially-distanced together. Raindate:

  • Toddler Storytime: Celebrate the beauty and importance of trees for arbor day with Miss Ariel and Ms. Peggy as they present early literacy skills while celebrating the beauty and importance of trees for Arbor Day.

  • STEM Storytime: Children are welcomed to share stories and a craft in celebration of Arbor Day. Afterwards we will go to the backyard and plant a tree. Afterwards, children will receive their own seedling to take home.

  • STEM Jr. Storytime: Children learn the parts of a tree. Children sit at storytime rug and listen to the story, . Afterwards using a felt board we name the parts of the tree.

  • Storytime Kit: Arbor Day

  • DIY Wand Craft for Teens: Celebrate Arbor Day and show off your love for all things magic with a DIY wand craft! We'll be using tree branches, paint, hot glue gun, and other craft supplies to make your DIY wand as unique as you are. For grades 7-12.

  • How to Promote Native Plant Species sponsored by the NJ Watershed. (Adult program).

Flannel Book Ideas:



Way Up High in the Apple Tree (T)

Create a large tree to cover the flannel board. Make a simple looking trunk and a fluffy tree canopy. For the rhyme I simply placed the number of needed apples to the tree top. Make apples in assorted colors using felt.

Have children take turns coming up to the felt board and picking up an apple. Have children tell you the color of the apple and then placing back on the tree.
