This year long program works in collaboration with the 1000 Books Foundation. The objectives of this organization are:
to promote reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers
to encourage parent and child bonding through reading
Parents/caregivers can sign up all year long. Once a year, those children who have registered for the program are invited to a party. Children who have completed the 1000 books will be awarded a certificate. Mr. Bubbles, paid by our Friends group provides entertainment. Afterwards, children are given a prize. I usually use the left over prizes from the summer reading program. Cupcakes are served.
A display has been set up with signage, recommended book list and registration form. Also books that we own from the book list are labeled with a 1000 books before kindergarten classification label and placed on display.
